NTFS Permissions Tools, a free and portable software application for Windows, makes it incredibly easy to modify file permissions. You can use it to change, back up, and restore the security settings of any file or folder stored on an NTFS-formatted drive

As mentioned above, NTFS Permissions Tools is a portable software application for Windows. This means you won’t have to install it. To start using this application you need only download an archive, extract it contents, and then run an executable – NPT86.exe if you have a 32-bit system, NPT64.exe if you have a 64-bit system.

All your drives are presented as a list on this application’s interface. Double click a drive to open it and navigate its contents. At the top, above the aforementioned list, there are buttons to make a file or folder read only, to deny access to a file or folder, to allow access to a file or folder, to change the owner, and to access some advanced security settings. It must be mentioned here that two modes are available for the interface: Edit Mode and Browser Mode.

And now, a list that covers most of the features NTFS Permissions Tools has to offer: it supports the NTFS file system; use it to change file permissions (allow access, read only, deny access); use it to change a file’s owner; you can back up security settings, restore settings from a backup, and reset the settings to their default values; bookmark items, manage bookmarks.

NTFS Permissions Tools is free software. If you find it useful, do consider making a donation.

NTFS Permissions Tools works with NTFS-formatted drives and helps you efficiently manage file permissions.

Pros

NTFS Permissions Tools does not have to be installed. Two modes are available for the interface: Browse and Edit Mode. The interface is very easy to navigate. Use NTFS Permissions Tools to change, back up, restore, and reset file permissions. NTFS Permissions Tools is free software (donations are welcome).

Cons

None that I could think of.
